Eltek Valere has established itself as a clear no. 2 globally in its market. There are only about half a dozen global suppliers. Some are part of large conglomerates, while others have main parts of their business in other power supply segments than telecom.

Size is a key issue for suppliers of energy systems, as it provides economies of scale, increases R&D capabilities and makes it possible to reduce the cost per system sold. Also, financial muscle and global reach are increasingly becoming a prerequisite to compete for contracts with the largest operators and OEMs.

There are some quite large regional and national suppliers. A number of power supply companies are previous subsidiaries or divisions of large equipment manufacturers that have been spun off. However, the global energy systems market is characterized more by its high degree of fragmentation than concentration around a few main players.
