Business overview

About Eltek Valere
Eltek Valere is a pioneer in the power electronics industry. The company was established in 1971 as Eltek Energy, and was renamed Eltek Valere following the acquisition of Valere Power Inc. in USA by Eltek Energy in 2007.

Eltek Valere develops and markets energy systems for telecom, industrial and renewable energy  applications, as well for electrical vehicles. These energy systems  typically provide power conversion (AC to DC or DC to AC) and voltage adjustment of input power, to specific output requirements; as well as backup power.

Telecom
The telecom sector is the major market segment for Eltek Valere. The solutions provide the power for operation of telecom infrastructure equipment.

Industrial
Eltek Valere offers a broad portfolio of energy systems that meet the power needs within the power utilities, automotive, rail, marine & offshore, mining, process industries and other industry sectors.

Renewables
Eltek Valere offers a complete range of market leading inverter systems to convert and feed power generated by renewable energy sources onto the grid.

E-Mobility
Eltek Valere offers industry leading chargers for pure electric and plug in hybrid electrical vehicles.

Competitive advantages
Eltek Valere has managed to compete effectively in the market and has performed well above the market average and peers in the telecom industry for many years. The competitive advantage stems from three main factors:

Technology: Eltek Valere focuses on R&D to be able to develop products and systems that combine excellent performance with competitive costs. Eltek Valere is leading developments in high-efficiency power solutions (HE) that minimize the loss of energy and thus reduces operating cost and emissions from energy usage. The HE power saving technology is offered across Eltek Valere’s entire product line.

Global coverage: Eltek Valere’s strong presence and intimate knowledge of key local markets, in combination with a global organization and supply chain, make it possible to combine economies-of-scale with local adaptation and customer service.

Competitive culture: Eltek Valere and its employees are characterized by a strong will to compete and succeed in all markets where the company is present.

Business model
Eltek Valere conducts its business through a number of wholly and majority owned subsidiaries, as well as distributors. The business model and organizational structure combine centralization of key resources and functions with local market adaptation, in order to achieve the greatest possible flexibility and customer orientation while ensuring a minimum cost of supply and logistics.

Corporate functions
Research and development resources are centralized and are located in Drammen and Kristansand, Norway; Dallas, USA;; and Stockholm, Sweden. These centers cooperate closely under common management and according to a joint development plan. Other corporate functions include product management, marketing and sourcing, as well as administrative corporate functions.
Product Manufacturing and Assembly Strategy
Proprietary product components are manufactured at highly specialized contract manufacturers, primarily in China.

Six regional assembly hubs – in China, India, Slovakia, Germany, Brazil and the US – constitute the backbone of Eltek Valere’s global supply chain. At these hubs, energy systems are assembled to local requirements, based on standardized global designs, rectifiers and monitors, as well as sourced components. Two of these centers – in Slovakia and China – serve larger regional markets, and are supplemented by warehouses in national markets.

Global supply chain
The supply chain is managed through a global logistics system that includes tools for forecasting, planning, distribution and follow-up of manufacturing and sales. Distribution centers in China, Slovakia and the US serves the regional and local markets delivering the complete Eltek Valere product portfolio

One company culture
While the Eltek Valere organization is made up of wholly and majority owned companies throughout the world, of varying size and with different histories, a unique and common Eltek Valere culture and brand is promoted around the world.

Products and services
Energy systems for telecom
Eltek Valere’s energy systems cover the entire range of application areas in telecommunication networks. A typical energy system includes rectifiers, control and monitoring modules, AC distribution for rectifier input, DC distribution, batteries and low voltage disconnect options. All the systems use state-of-art-the-art hot plug-in switch mode rectifiers allowing for easier system upgrades. Multiple rectifiers operate in parallel to meet specific power needs and ensure redundant operation.

Green telecom
The telecom industry alone consumes approximately 1 percent of the world’s energy usage, equaling some 160 billion KWh and resulting in emissions of more than 120 million tons of CO2. Some 60-70 percent of this power runs through an AC-to-DC power system and Eltek Valere’s HE technologies and products can contribute to a significant reduction in the growth of energy usage and emissions from the telecom sector.

Turn-key offering
Eltek Valere offers turn-key solutions that, in addition to the energy systems themselves, include site surveys, planning and project management, installation and commissioning, preventive maintenance, battery maintenance, 24/7 emergency services, product repairs and training.

Solar and hybrid solutions
Operators having sites in areas with poor or even no electricity supply, require hybrid solutions where power is supplied both by solar panels and generators. Eltek Valere’s solutions, incorporating HE rectifiers and HE solar converters, together with a dedicated controller, secure a maximum output from of the solar panels and minimize the fuel consumption for the generators. For such needs, Eltek Valere is a total solution provider.

Renewable energy systems – solar-to-grid
Power conversion equipment is required to feed the power generated in solar sites onto the grid. Eltek Valere provides a range of inverters that convert direct current produced by solar cells to alternating current, as well as monitoring equipment and accessories. The products are designed for use in photovoltaic plants, from the very large utility-scale plants via medium-size commercial sites to smaller household sites.

Industrial applications
Eltek Valere’s product range for industrial applications is wide and covers the diversified and specific power needs in various industry sectors, like Railways, Maritime and Power utilities. The solutions are based on products such as industrial rectifiers, DC/DC converters, DC/AC  inverters, controllers and dedicated solutions for different customers. .

E-mobility - electric vehicle chargers
The EV PowerCharger is a family of chargers for electric vehicles that is designed to minimize charge time and maximize mileage pr. spent kilowatt-hour. These chargers have advantages regarding density and weigth.  The chargers are based on HE technology an offers unmatched efficiency, while maintaining galvanic isolation for battery protection.
