Competition
Eltek Valere is a leader in the power electronics industry, with a particular stronghold in the telecom power segment where the company is the world’s second largest,measured by revenue. Over the years, the company has proved itself to be a trendsetter in terms of technology direction.As of March 2010, competitors have yet to prove that they are able to match the performance of Eltek Valere’s high efficiency (>95%) products.
Size has been a key issue for suppliers of energy systems, as it provides economies of scale, increases R&D capabilities and makes it possible to reduce the cost per system sold. Also, financial muscle and global reach are increasingly becoming a prerequisite to compete for contracts with the largest operators and OEMs. In addition to Eltek Valere, rhere are only about half a dozen global suppliers, some of which are part of large conglomerates.
There are some quite large regional and national suppliers. A number of power supply companies are previous subsidiaries or divisions of large equipment manufacturers that have been spun off. However, the global energy systems market is characterized more by its high degree of fragmentation than concentration around a few main players.
In the renewable energy markets, Eltek Valere is a relatively new and small player, with a market penetration strategy based on product leadership.
