Eltek and the Environment

Eltek's major contribution to conserving environmental resources is innovative services and products that minimize its customers' energy usage. The global telecom industry accounts for approximately one percent of global energy consumption, and energy savings are important from both an environmental and financial aspect. 

Eltek has established a position as the "Greenest Company in the Power Industry" through the introduction of a series of products leading the field in terms of power efficiency. The Flatpack2 High Efficiency rectifier operates at 96.5 percent efficiency. When introduced, this reduced the energy losses by more than 50 percent compared to the industry standard. The whole industry is following our High Efficiency lead, but Eltek maintains a leading technology position and a strong track record with more than 600,000 units in operation. Since its launch in 2008, Eltek's High Efficiency product range is estimated to have saved telecom operators approximately 730 GWh or the equivalent of the annual average electricity consumption in 60,000 US homes. This also represents a reduction in the carbon footprint for Eltek's customers of 520,000 tons of CO2.

Through the use of renewable energy in remote telecom installations, innovative cooling, and smart management of generators, Eltek has also contributed to a reduction of more than 50 million litres of diesel.
Additionally, Eltek is committed to integrate environmental practices into all aspects of our business:

• Eltek's product portfolio complies with the EU directives RoHS (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive).
• A Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting and reporting system in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14061-1 Greenhouse gases has been established.

Most major Eltek sites, including the Norway headquarters, are certified according to ISO 14001. The environmental policy applies to our operations worldwide.  Compliance to ISO 14001 is mandatory also from Eltek's main suppliers.
