Case example from Malaysia – OPEX reduced by 66%

Eltek has recently installed and commissioned and number of Hybrid sites in Malaysia. These sites was previously run entirely on diesel generators with a high running cost in terms of the diesel itself, transport to site and frequent service calls due to a high number running hours under less than optimal conditions.

After upgrades the sites had a setup with a 31 kVA diesel generator, 18 kW HE rectifiers and a peak power from solar panels of 2, 6 kW. The sites have a peak load of 3 kW and the diesel generators are estimated to run only 4 hours per day.

With this setup the operational expenses of these sites have been reduced by more than 66%. The diesel savings alone, amounts to 7400 liters per month, or in excess of 100 000 USD per year. On top of that, savings on transport and service can be added. The operator has also installed Elteks “MultiSite Monitor” which provides a full network overview, through an embedded map service, of all energy sources and their performance, savings and overall system status.

With savings of this magnitude it is obvious that investments in Eltek Hybrid solutions have a very fast payback time and that they will contribute to significant long term reduction of operational expenses of such remote sites. In addition to the monetary savings there is of course also an element of reducing environmental impact.
